The peppermint green engine is finally dropped back into the car and fired up. This is the original colour of the engine, uncovered under layers of black paint, so we decided to repaint it the same colour. Apparently there was no standard colour for engines at Buick back in 1929, they used to mix together left over paint and as long as it was green – it was used to paint engines. Pictures of other engines show quite a wide range of colours.
