Day 21   Thu 30th Sept – Tashkent to Samarkand   (Uzbekhistan)  – 410 km

A significant number of P2P folk went larging it last night enjoying a big night out together making for some sore and sleepy heads leaving Taskent this morning.

Suprisingly Tim did not join in last night and both he and Julie are feeling that they have not been as social as others and are planning to redeem themselves in Samarkand. Julie is looking forward to finding some beautiful silk to bring home.

Knowing there’s a rest day tomorrow in a reputedly stunning point on the Silk Road has resulted in all round good cheer. They’ll be making the most of this last rest day before Paris.

Nice short run today on reasonably good roads for the most part made even more enjoyable by beautiful weather. Loads of kids by the roadside smiling waving and jumping up and down in excitement as the rally cars go by. Classic momnet passing a long line of little kids aged between 3 and 6 years old who all solemnly saluted Benson. A real shame that they were going too fast to take a photo.
