Tim & Julie Wilkinson, husband and wife living in London, with absolutely no “previous rally experience”. In fact no experience whatsoever with vintage cars or racing/rallying. The 1929 Buick we will be driving circa 14,500km from Peking to Paris is the first car we have owned in recent years that did not come direct from a showroom ! So why are we doing it ? An old friend of Tim’s who has had the “old car bug” for many years entered Peking to Paris and when he started talking about it, a small spark of an idea ignited. Before we knew it, we had sent off for an entry form and confirmed an entry – then it was time to find a suitable car. How we ended up buying a 1929 Buick and started preparing it for this adventure is a long story ……..
We are hoping that our participation in the rally will persuade friends, family and business associates to dig into their pockets and help raise funds for a very worthy charity; the Angus Lawson Memorial Trust. The ALMT was founded by Nick and Kara Lawson in 2006 following the death of their two year old son in a tragic accident. The ALMT has a very simple aim, to help marginalised children all over the world, with every penny raised going to these causes, adminsitration and running costs of the charity are met by the trustees. Please take a moment to follow the link and donate whatever you can to ALMT. Every contribution, however small, will help change a child’s life somewhere.
